RED RICE

Updated: Jan 9, 2023

Red rice is a wonderfully nourishing and healing grain used often in the Ayurvedic diet. ⁣

I cook with it for both sweet and savoury dishes, if for no other reason than it’s glorious earthy, nutty flavour. ⁣

But as a bonus, red rice is SO high in nutrient value that it is worth the price tag that comes with it. ⁣

This pretty little grain contains zinc and high levels of calcium and iron (such a win), while also having antioxidant properties that boost immune function and lower the stress response in the body. Beautifully high in fibre, it keeps the bowel regular and happy also. Red rice is also a natural way to get a supplementation of magnesium that can assist with blood pressure, cramps, complications of Type 2 Diabetes and helps to lower risk of other cardiovascular diseases like arterial plaque. ⁣
