This is the season of colds, congestion, sinusitis, respiratory tract infections, croup, coughs and flu. Winter has hit and our immune systems are battling the early onset of the cold, damp season of Kapha.
So here is a handy little tip to beat the mucousy blues. Using the principle of Ayurvedic aromatherapy, the family of peppermint and eucalyptus (over here in Australia), can further assist to warm, clear and soothe the above conditions. You can use some peppermint oil in your diffuser which is effective for the general home but to get some targeted essential oil and warm vapour (especially good for croup and stagnation in the sinuses) you can bring nature into your shower ♡
If you are in Australia, you can simply go to your backyard or local park and select some beautiful eucalyptus branches full of fresh leaves (avoid flowering branches). Hang from above and around your shower head so that the direct stream doesn’t hit the leaves but the steam does - thereby releasing the eucalyptus vapour. Smells glorious and is beautifully healing.
Happy foraging my friends!
